degraded bbd delay
talos is a mono delay pushed past its limits. a bbd delay with feedback that can self-oscillate, clock instability that jitters the pitch, and voltage sag that collapses the signal as the power supply fails.
behavior
- low feedback: clean delay
- feedback 0.8-1.0: delay starts sustaining, harmonics build through saturation
- feedback past 1.0: self-oscillation, the delay sings on its own
- clock: read head jitters, pitch wobbles and glitches
- sag: hot signal compresses headroom, everything collapses as power fails
- drive: input saturation before the delay, and gain boost in the feedback loop
- toggle a heavy: hard clipping in the feedback loop, aggressive harmonics
- toggle b chaos: stepped random glitches, the clock is broken
- toggle c collapse: asymmetric clipping, power supply is failing
the sweet spot is feedback near 1.0 with clock and sag active — the delay holds on by a thread, oscillating and glitching.
