warm compression and saturation into oblivion

mu is a variable-mu-like compression/saturation/limiter turned into an abomination. on low settings it creates clean, tempered, creamy, tube-like compression and squeeze. push the input gain and it quickly overloads into glitchy, sputtery saturation that makes weird with your sound, or compression that’ll send it into the pale. feed-forward and feed-back modes, three compression characters, warmth voicing, and wet/dry blend.

warning: this pedal can easily damage your hearing through headphones. be careful.

sweet spots

  • gentle compression: threshold -25, input gain 8, attack 100ms, release 500ms, mix 1.0
  • heavy limiting: threshold -15, input gain 20, attack 1ms, release 50ms, heavy character
  • tube warmth: input gain 15, mix 0.3, neutral warmth, compression bypass on
  • clean parallel compression: threshold -25, input gain 15, mix 0.5, medium character
  • broadcast leveling: threshold -20, input gain 8, attack 200ms, release 2000ms, dark warmth
controls
threshold
level at which compression begins (-40 to 0 dB)
input gain
drives signal into compressor — more gain means more saturation (0 to +20 dB)
attack
how fast gain reduction engages (5-200 ms)
release
how fast gain reduction releases (50-2000 ms)
mix
wet/dry blend (0=dry, 1=wet)
output
makeup gain (-20 to +20 dB)
toggle a
[on-on] feed-forward (up) / feed-back (down) — detector topology
toggle b
[on-off-on] dark (up) / neutral (middle) / bright (down) — warmth voicing
toggle c
[on-off-on] gentle (up) / medium (middle) / heavy (down) — compression character
footswitch l
[latching] bypass compression (line amp mode — tube saturation only)
footswitch r
[latching] effect on/off
both fs (hold 2s)
